About Snake River Forge
Our Story
Justin made his first knife in 2004 from an old saw blade and a length of antler, and his interest sparked from there. He is as happy in the workshop as he is in the river fly fishing. He and his wife run and manage SRF, garden, and raise their four sons on the doorstep of Yellowstone and some of the world's best trout rivers.
He studied Computer Science at Boise State University and has worked as a software engineer for years building technology for legal professionals.
Our Approach
We aim to create beautiful handcrafted knives that are highly functional. Each knife is carefully shaped, heat treated, and then finish-ground. The fit and finish are pored over through meticulous hours of hand sanding. By the time the bevels and the handle are done, Justin usually has a ridiculous pile of sandpaper to cart away. But the end result is a handle that has been worked until it is natural and comfortable in the hand and a blade you can be proud of.
